• Promote emotional and physical well-being for women and children
• Encourage artistic and personal growth of women and children

What the money we have donated has achieved

The Women’s Fund over the years has helped a wide range of people with a variety of grants to different organisations. Some of the beneficiaries include: Milton Keynes Prison Fellowship, Aylesbury Vale Rape Crisis and MK ACT. Over the past year, the Women’s Fund has helped fund the following projects:

The Play's The Thing Theatre Company

For the creation of a piece of theatre to mark 100 years since the first women got the vote. The project will deliver inclusive theatre projects and exhibitions; highlighting the journey for the rights of women in British Society.

Ravenstone Women's Institute

For a minibus for members of the Ravenstone Women’s Institute to go to the houses of parliament for a tour which will give them a stronger understanding of democratic processes in the UK.

GirlsCode MK

To help fund 20 – 30 women to attend sessions to learn how to code in a variety of different formats, that will be delivered fortnightly. The workshops are free and aim to bring women together from all different backgrounds to learn computer programming in a friendly environment.

1st Oxley Park Guides

To fund a subsidised cost for the Guide group to visit an ‘extreme’ winter camp, which will allow them the opportunity to gain important survival skills, which will allow them access to more advanced training so they can obtain further skills for future programmes, such as D of E.

MK Women's Wellbeing Centre

To fund a pop up event to introduce the Women of Milton Keynes to the services that the group offer. The aim of the group is to support women from all backgrounds to better their lives.

Local Media Initiatives CIC

To help fund a one day conference that will focus on highlighting and discussing how to take action to identify girls at risk and ensure the protection of girls in Milton Keynes. The project will inform politicians, councillors, Head Teachers and Teachers.

MK Museum

To fund the 'HERstory' exhibition at Milton Keynes Museum representing women's lives, experience and history as part of the celebration of 100 years of Suffrage.

International Women's Day 2017

"The 8th March 2017 was International Women’s Day and MK foundation had put together an event to celebrate it. Some of our member were able to attend and enjoyed it very much!

Here is an extract of the email MK foundation sent to the attendees after the event:

"On these occasions it is always important, and lovely to see, members of our community coming together to commemorate and celebrate past and present achievements of women and rejoice at the evolution of humankind, although we know there is still further work to be done. Furthermore, it was really pleasing to see so many supporters attend The Milton Keynes Rose gathering to attach their #BeBoldforChange pledges to the Internal Women’s Day pillar, even in slightly inclement weather!...

You will be delighted to hear that so far we have raised around £700 for the Women’s Fund as a result of our International Women’s Day event and we are sure that this will increase as some guests mentioned donating via our website - we will update you with further details regarding this when you read our webletter at the end of the month as we will run a special feature then.

We are so pleased to announce that Women in Enterprise have decided to renew their partnership with us and will be making regular donations to the Women’s Fund - we look forward to working with them!

In conclusion, we hope you enjoy the rest of International Women’s Day and remember to #BEBOLDFORCHANGE!" If you wish to make a donation to the Women’s Fund, please visit our website: www.mkcommunityfoundation.co.uk/donations.
